ABOUT
MISTO
There really is a “Misto” behind Misto’s Home Improvement: Mistokli “Misto” Elmazaj. Misto started learning the business from his father as a small boy in his native Albania. He was intrigued by the work his father did as he was building the family’s house. “Building a house is a very long process. I watched him and I liked what he was doing. It made me want to learn more of that kind of work,” said Misto, who has been licensed with the State of Connecticut since 2007.
Misto honed his skills, first in Albania, then in Italy. He’s fluent in English, Albanian and Italian. He came to Connecticut in 2003 in search of better opportunities and started Misto’s Home Improvement, taking the skills he learned overseas and adding his own flair of customer service. He personally deals with every client, patiently answering questions and recommending colors and materials, as well as accommodating changing schedules. He’s an expert in kitchen and bath remodels, as well as masonry, tile, painting, flooring, carpentry and drywall.
“I want each customer to have peace of mind. The work I do is good quality and it’s solid; it will last a long time,” he said. “It’s about making people happy. When I can fix something for somebody, it makes me happy; when I can renew something, bring it back to life, it makes me happy.” For Misto, it’s all about keeping his word, whether it’s being on time, completing the work as scheduled or even leaving your home cleaner than it was.
Although it’s far from his birthplace, Misto loves living in Connecticut. “There’s plenty of business opportunity,” he said. “And I like the snow. Every time it snows, it makes me happy.”
